Assam

  1. Geography:

    • Assam is located in the northeastern part of India, bordered by Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh to the north, Nagaland and Manipur to the east, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and Bangladesh to the south, and West Bengal to the west.

Meghalaya

  1. Geography:

    • Meghalaya, meaning "abode of clouds," is also in northeastern India, bordered by Assam to the north and east, and Bangladesh to the south and west.
    • The state is known for its hilly terrain, high rainfall, and dense forests.
  2. Culture:

    • The state's population is predominantly tribal, with Khasi, Garo, and Jaintia tribes being the major communities.
    • Traditional dances, music, and festivals like Nongkrem Dance, Wangala Festival, and Shad Suk Mynsiem reflect the rich cultural heritage.
  3. Economy:

    • Agriculture is a significant part of Meghalaya's economy, with crops like rice, maize, and potatoes being the staples.
    • The state is also known for its horticulture produce, including oranges, pineapples, and other fruits.
  4. Tourism:

    • Meghalaya is famous for its natural beauty with numerous caves, waterfalls, and living root bridges.
    • Popular tourist spots include Shillong (the capital city known as the "Scotland of the East"), Cherrapunjee and Mawsynram (among the wettest places on Earth), and the clean village of Mawlynnong.
